Set your faceplate and sharpening disc on the lathe at 300 rpm.

Mount the cutter in your battery-powered drill using the shaping dowel provided with the tool.

Spray a small amount of water on the disc.

Run the drill in the opposite direction of the lathe while touching the heel/bevel of the cutter's face to the wheel.

Move the drill towards the lathe's headstock until the cutting edge touches the disc.

It's helpful, especially when starting, to mark the entire cutting surface of the cutter with a permanent marker pen to see what you're sharpening clearly.

A useful tip is to run the cutting edge over your fingernail. If it shaves off a piece, it's still not sharp enough; it should dig in immediately
