This 100mm diameter sharpening disc is specifically designed for sharpening carbide cutters. To use it, create a 100mm wooden faceplate that is positioned close enough to the headstock for you to rest your fingers and stabilize the cordless drill during operation. The faceplate should have a 16mm tenon to fit the disc's hole. Secure the disc with a large washer and screw, and remember to seal the timber to protect it from getting wet during use. For more insight please watch video link below

  • Set your faceplate and sharpening disc on the lathe at 300 rpm.
  • Mount the cutter in your battery-powered drill using the shaping dowel provided with the tool.
  • Spray a small amount of water on the disc.
  • Run the drill in the opposite direction of the lathe while touching the heel/bevel of the cutter's face to the wheel.
  • Move the drill towards the lathe's headstock until the cutting edge touches the disc.
  • It's helpful, especially when starting, to mark the entire cutting surface of the cutter with a permanent marker pen to see what you're sharpening clearly.
  • A useful tip is to run the cutting edge over your fingernail. If it shaves off a piece, it's still not sharp enough; it should dig in immediately
